DARLING LODGE TRAVEL BLOG

Darling Wine Route

Friends where on a road trip driving the West Coast Road R27.

They spontaneously decided to stay with us, set the indicator, turned off at the Yzerfontein crossroad and cruised the Darling hills on the R 315. After check-in at the new Pool Suite we all enjoyed an aperitivo al fresco.

After catching up and chatting about Darling beers and wines they decided to drive the www.darlingwineroute.co.za and discover the unknown wine gems.

While they had lunch at Hilda's Kitchen restaurant at Groote Post wine estate they called me and asked whether they could extend their stay for another night.

On day two they were supposed to visit the wine estates of Cloof, Darling Cellars and Ormond. On the phone: “Surprise, surprise - we just made it to a gin tasting of Darlington Gin at the Wine Shop and will stay by your pool for the rest of the day. Can we stay another night…?”

Finally our friends spent three days discovering all Darling wine estates, having great lunches and relaxing moments under the trees at Cloof or the patio at Ormond. The conclusion of the story: Darling is blessed with amazing wine makers committed to GOLD and PLATINUM standards.

So whenever you decide to take the Darling turn, take your time and relax …
